Welcome to Lashon City!

At our City campus, Los Angeles’ vast diversity creates a special and dynamic Lashon experience. Our small, but mighty, school focuses on the academic growth of each student. Our highly-experienced teachers utilize a small-group approach to enhance the learning of individual students. Outside of the classroom, our Parent-Teacher Organization brings joy to our students through their fun-filled activities that create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. With our dedicated teachers and staff, parent involvement, and the Los Angeles community as its backdrop, our school brings global learning to a whole new level!

From the Head of School

Hello Leopards!

My name is Kathie Chung and I am currently serving as the TK-6th Grade Principal at our Lashon City Campus. I started my journey as an educator by getting my Childhood and Special Education Degree from NYU. Although I loved my time in New York, I wanted to work and settle down in my hometown and moved back to Los Angeles. I then graduated from UCLA’s Teacher Education Program and received my Masters of Ed and California Teaching Credential. From then on, I worked with elementary school students from ETK-5th grade for five years before transitioning to an outside classroom position in Los Angeles Unified School District.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, I enjoy teaching and working with families from diverse backgrounds. I especially love learning about new cultures and traditions and embedding them into our school culture. Eventually, I ended up finding Lashon Academy and was intrigued by its commitment to create diverse learners and global citizens. I took on the role as the first TOSA at Lashon City and then transitioned to the Principal position for the 2024-2025 school year.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of evolving from a classroom teacher to the role of School Principal, where I found my passion for supporting both educators and students in a broader, more impactful way. In this position, I realized how deeply I value being part of a school community, fostering growth, and creating meaningful change on a larger scale. Leading this incredible community of students, teachers, and families has been the most rewarding and humbling experience of my professional journey. It is truly a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated team. As I continue in this role, I remain committed to fostering a nurturing, innovative environment where every student can thrive and grow. Go Leopards!
